Why Q1 Almost Made Me Sell My Business

The first few months of this year were... scary.

For the first time in a while, I actually started to wonder if things would pick up again. Clients were leaving because of the economy or were just scared of what was next. Inquiries slowed down, and I was juggling it all while raising a human. I was stressed.

But we didn’t give up. We kept going, full-assing it and trusting that if it worked out before, it would again.

And now? We’re getting ready to close our books for the summer.

If you’re facing a difficult season in business right now, this blog post is for you.

But first, how did this happen?

In January, I had just returned from maternity leave. I felt overwhelmed after being completely offline for three months, and coming back was a shock to my system.

Between balancing a newborn and a full client caseload, I felt like I needed to relearn my entire business all over again (thanks, baby brain).

But that wasn’t even the worst part. In February and March, we experienced one of the slowest seasons we have ever had.

Shifting hormones and dropping numbers felt like a recipe for disaster.

We Wanted to Panic, But Here’s What We Did Instead

We tried not to spiral or panic — even though it was really hard!

Instead, we zoomed out, stayed consistent, and focused on strengthening what we could control.

Because slow seasons don’t mean it’s over. They mean it’s time to recalibrate.

The Bottom Line

With this mindset and level-headed approach, we’re getting ready to close our books for July. New client inquiries are flowing in again, and our momentum is back because we didn’t quit when things got quiet.

Starting a business is the easy part. Continuing to push through when it feels like everything is collapsing around you? That’s the hardest and most rewarding part.

Business is a rollercoaster, but the ones who win are the ones who hold on through all of the wildest turns.

Don't give up - you're doing so much better than you think!
