How We’ve Lost the Art of Working to Live

It's a gorgeous Friday in the middle of July. Every friend you have with a "normal" job is off lying by the pool, glass of wine in hand, not thinking about work for a single second.

But you picked the badass business owner route, which means you're tied to your laptop all day, and most likely all night too.

Somewhere along the way, hustle culture convinced us this is just the price of admission. That if you're not online 24/7, answering every message the second it lands, grinding through your evenings, your weekends, and the last of your sanity, you're not doing it right. That the guilt is part of the deal.

Been there. Done that.

Feeling like you're being punished for choosing to build something of your own never sat right with me. Like the reward for growth is never being able to step away from it. As long as the business is growing, you're on the hook…forever.

But when you stop and really think about it, it makes no sense.

Because the whole point and the entire reason you started this was to build a business that supports your life, your dreams, and your goals.
Not the opposite.

Here's my unpopular opinion

I love my company. But I love the life it's given me ten times more.

At the height of hustle culture, I know that's not the flex you're supposed to make. But it's the truth. And it only became true when I stopped trying to be in every corner of my business and learned the systems and processes that let it run without me chained to it.

My Fridays off and sporadic travel days didn’t come from working harder, waking up at 5am, or answering DMs at midnight. Once I had real structure underneath the business, it could keep moving while I actually lived.

And this isn't some rare privilege reserved for a certain kind of founder. No matter what your business is, this is something you get to take advantage of.

You didn't build this to be trapped by it

If you're reading this on a beautiful Friday you're spending in front of a screen, consider it your sign.

The version of your business that supports your life without giving up your weekends is on the other side of a set of systems you haven't put in place yet.

Not sure where to start? Click here and let's build the kind of business that supports your life... not the other way around.
